A hotel captured in 594 scan stations

Around 3,000 m² of existing building data — a registered and cleaned point cloud prepared for the client’s next stage of work in Revit.

Registered point cloud of the hotel facade in Yekaterinburg

The task

Survey the Circus Artists’ House in Yekaterinburg, used as a hotel. The scope covered the facade, part of the basement and four floors, with a total surveyed area of approximately 3,000 m².

The client needed scan data for further work in Revit. Access to individual rooms varied, so some areas had to be revisited on later days.

From reality to project data

01 / CAPTURE

Coordinate access and scan

Capture the building over four partial working days, using 594 scan stations.

02 / PROCESS

Register and clean

Align the scans and manually remove reflected points caused by mirrors and glossy wall surfaces. Processing took four partial working days.

03 / HANDOVER

Prepare data for Revit

Prepare the point cloud for the client’s further processing and modelling workflow in Revit.

What was delivered

A registered and cleaned point cloud containing approximately 4.49 billion points. The reported overall point-cloud registration error was 3 mm. The client’s next step was further processing in Revit.

*Scanning and processing each took four incomplete working days. The 3 mm figure describes point-cloud registration error; it is not a statement of accuracy for every individual measurement.
